A long-term goal of mine is to develop a Metroidvania. I have many unfinished and uninteresting ideas.
This proof of concept was created as an art style test for a 2.5D project. Most of the work was in creating custom gouraud shaders via Shader Graph. This shader supports vertex colors, my own dual directional light setup, vertex colors, and vertex paint based texture blending (see the smooth transition between the grass and pathway).
Placeholder icons were taken from Majora’s Mask, the character model was taken from Old School RuneScape, and all textures were taken and modified from stock asset packs.

I once worked on a near one-to-one recreation of Castlevania 2’s player movement in Unity. This was both a programming exercise and to see if I would be interested in working on a 2D controller, which then and spawned several subprojects to experiment with movement and art.
(pending screenshots, stop being lazy!)
The next variation of this project included wall-jumping, swinging from poles, and bunny-hopping with the ability to retain momentum.
